The Emotional Brain Institute (EBI), is a multidisciplinary institute addressing the neurobiology of emotion. We seek to hire a full time Research Technician to assist with NIH-funded research investigating the neural circuits mediating active coping behavior. The Research Technician will learn and utilize neuroscience techniques including stereotaxic injection of viral vectors, implantation of chronic indwelling cannulae, optrodes and electrodes and running behavior.


The Research Technician will work with Dr. Sears for all experiments. Job responsibilities include completing surgeries in a timely manner, running behavior, statistical data analysis, securing regulatory approvals, writing SOP's, training lab members, writing methods and results sections for scientific publications, and presenting data in a team setting.


B.A. or B.S. is required and a degree in psychology or the natural sciences is preferred. Prior experience with rodent behavior and/or neuroscience techniques is a plus. The fellow must be a hard worker, must be able to work independently and work closely with others in a team approach.

Background Investigation/Justice Center Review Requirements:

Prospective appointees will be: 1) Checked against the Staff Exclusion List (SEL) maintained by the Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs. Prospective employees whose names appear on the SEL as having been found responsible for serious or repeated acts of abuse or neglect will be barred from appointment. 2) Screened against the Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR).  Prospective employees whose names are indicated on the SCR may be barred from appointment.
