A funded postdoctoral position for recent Ph.D. is available immediately in the laboratory of Dr. Levy at the NKI.

The position focuses on the role of extracellular vesicles in the addiction process, either as a protective mechanism, releasing of accumulation of cellular materials caused by the disturbed degradation pathway, or as a pathogenic mechanism transferring addiction-related proteins, lipids, and RNAs to target cells. These options will be studied by characterizing exosomes-enriched extracellular vesicles isolated from the brain of mice treated with cocaine or saline as control. These studies may lead to finding new targets for addiction therapy and/or new biomarkers for cocaine addiction and withdrawal.

This study routinely employs multidisciplinary approaches including behavioral tests of mouse models, light and electron microscopy, immunolabeling, biochemistry, as well as genomic, proteomic, and lipidomic approaches of mouse brain tissue.
