JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Division of Social Solutions and Services Research (SSSR)is currently seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Research Support Assistant to support ongoing data collection efforts. This is a temporary hourly position. The successful candidate will be expected to work 16 hours per week for six months.

JOB DUTIES:

The Research Support Assistant will provide research assistance on ongoing projects; qualitative and quantitative. Activities include data collection and data analysis. They will also support IRB correspondence including initial submissions and modifications and grant development and submissions (e.g. literature reviews, and synthesizing literature).

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Some college or 5+ years of equivalent experience working in community-based projects related to behavioral health or social services engament. Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Experience in applied quantitative or qualitative research with advanced skills in statistical software (eg., SAS, R, ATLASti, etc) preferred.
  • Must have strong computer skills and experience with Microsoft suite, and other website content management systems, and ability to learn new software programs quickly.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain focused attention without micromanagement; ability to problem solve, and work team-based within a diverse work setting.
  • Willing to travel within New York State to facilitate study development and implementation.
  • Experience working with persons with vulnerable, diverse populations with behavioral health/psychosocial needs is a plus.

Background Investigation/Justice Center Review Requirements:

Prospective appointees will be: 1) Checked against the Staff Exclusion List (SEL) maintained by the Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs. Prospective employees whose names appear on the SEL as having been found responsible for serious or repeated acts of abuse or neglect will be barred from appointment. 2) Screened against the Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR). Prospective employees whose names are indicated on the SCR may be barred from appointment.
