Job Description: Senior Systems Administrator

The Nathan Kline Institute for Psychiatric Research, located 15 miles north of NYC in Orangeburg, NY, is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator

Salary: Salary Grade 27 $89,870 - $111,036

Education and Experience:

  • A minimum of 7 years experience in mixed network environment, including Windows, Mac and Linux.
  • A bachelor's degree required, master's degree preferred. Major in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred.


  • Experience with security management frameworks, such as NIST and HIPAA/HITECH
  • Experience with network configuration and management, VMware, Windows Server 2008/2012, Dell EqualLogic SAN, Active Directory, Group Policy, Cisco firewalls and switches, backup/recovery
  • Hands on experience with Linux servers and workstations including command line, file systems, file permissions and scripting
  • Experience with security tools such as SIEM, ForeScout NAC, Zscaler internet filtering, McAfee ePO, Cisco IPS, Tripwire, Site-to-Site and remote access VPN, Bit locker, McAfee Endpoint Encryption, WSUS
  • Experience with Office 365, ADFS, RSA Tokens, co-location of Active Directory, Disaster Recovery
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • The ideal candidate will also have a solid knowledge of Linux and experience with web software development architecture


  • Work in a small group that supports both Windows and Linux servers. Will be expected to manage systems in both environments
  • Network support of a diversified, state-of-the-art infrastructure supporting over 400 Windows, Mac, and Linux desktop systems and hundreds of terabytes of data
  • Responsible for Computer Center network operations, including technical support, server builds, storage provisioning, management of various security products, management of Windows and Linux servers.
  • Day to day activities include both project based work and assisting in technical support issues as they arise.
  • Hands-on assistance with network administration tasks
